Possibility of Smoking Ban Petition Raised In Kearney
April 27, 2006
The possibility of putting a smoking ban before Kearney voters drew some 45 people to a city council meeting Wednesday.
Supporters of the notion outnumbered opponents.
One woman told the council that if it didn’t put the issue of a smoking ban on the ballot, it would likely get there through an initiative petition, the Kearney Hub reported.
Lincoln voters previously enacted a comprehensive smoking ban.
The Omaha City Council approved a ban, but it was vetoed by Mayor Mike Fahey.
