Hot Springs Considers Tougher Smoking Ban
July 9, 2006
HOT SPRINGS- The city of Hot Springs is considering a tougher smoking ban. A state ban that goes into effect this month prohibits smoking in work places.
The Hot Springs proposal would prohibit the use of all tobacco products in city-owned buildings or facilities, including city vehicles.
In addition, it would prohibit the use of all tobacco products within 25 feet of any public entrance to any city building or facility, whether used by the general public or not.
The city’s current “no-smoking” ordinance applies only to buildings owned or leased by the city. The Hot Springs Board of Directors is to consider the proposed ordinance tomorrow night.
