The “Day Of Defiance!” and Stiletto Booklets, and a Newsletter on the Side!

July 1st, 2007 saw the fall of the last stronghold in Britain to the Antismoking hordes, but they may have finally bitten off more than they can chew.  Churchill’s sons and daughters are proving a tougher nut to crack than any they’ve run into before: Pubs are standing up and saying, “We will NOT act as Collaborators in enforcing this misbegotten law!” and Informers are learning that they’re not welcome as either customers or friends.
 
The first six files linked below are variations of a short, easy to read booklet specifically designed for pubs and businesses facing smoking bans.  They are designed to clearly expose the lies behind those bans and to get owners, staff, and patrons angry at how they’ve been lied to and manipulated.  The Generic Stiletto is designed for anyone anywhere facing or in the middle of a ban.  The PA Stiletto is customized for the current (08/2007) situation in Pennsylvania.  And the “Day Of Defiance!” is customized for the stalwart Brits! 
 
The seventh and eighth files hold the “Kill The Ban!” newsletter: fourth issue of the Resistance newsletter for Philadelphia, currently in the iron grip of a ban.
Three of the files are Word .doc files, and three are Adobe .pdf files.  If you have Adobe you might want to choose those for printing since the formatting commands are very tricky on some pages and Word will not always print them correctly.

They are free to download and print out and are best presented when bound in the clear plastic “slide bar grip” report covers that students use for term papers.  If it’s done right they should print out very nicely to 25 large print pages.
 
The Antismoking Lobby has all the money, but their weakness is in their lies.  Inform the public of those lies, get people angry, and the Antismokers will fall: a well informed populace is the Antismokers’ greatest enemy, and an angry populace is a career politician’s greatest fear. 
 
Print out a copy for yourself, a copy for your staff, and several copies to leave out on the bar or counters for your patrons: Smoking bans have been, and can be, prevented and even overturned by angry citizens!

Man arrested after refusing to put out his cigarette in pub

A man drinking in a bar was arrested after refusing to stub out his cigarette, police have said.

Martin Whisker, 42, is believed to be one of the first people in the country to land himself in trouble after flouting the new ban on smoking in public places.

Officers were called to Riskers bar in Scarborough on Monday evening after Whisker refused to leave, North Yorkshire Police said.

He said he was protesting against the ban but police escorted him out, arrested him and handed him an £80 fixed penalty fine for being drunk and disorderly.

Whisker, a painter and decorator, said he was locked in a police cell until 6am the following day. He told the Scarborough Evening News: “I made my protest to make a point.

“I can see the point of banning smoking where food is being served but there is no need to stop people smoking altogether.”

The ban came into force at 6am on Sunday.

Owners and managers of pubs, clubs and cafes are legally bound to enforce the ban and face fines of up to £2,500 if they fail to do so.

Bar owner Barry Risker, 62, said Whisker was lighting up cigarette after cigarette.

He said: “A police officer ended up taking a cigarette out of his mouth and stamping it on the floor.”

But he added that he had some sympathy for Whisker’s position and described the ban as “crazy”.

“At least he had the guts to do something about it.”

Regulars at the bar reportedly had a whip-round to contribute to the fine, leaving donations in an ashtray.

Anyone caught smoking illegally can be given a fixed penalty notice of £50 – reduced to £30 if paid within 15 days – or fined up to £200 if they are prosecuted and convicted by a court.

Not a single fine for smoke ban protestors

Thousands of pubs and offices across the country received a visit from a smoking inspector yesterday without a single fine or caution being issued, despite numbers of pub landlords continuing to flout the ban.

After a quiet launch day on Sunday, when the smoking ban came into force across England, local councils sent out a hundreds of environmental officers to start policing the ban yesterday.

From Camden in London, which visited 200 “high risk” premises to Bristol, which said it had swooped on 1,000 sites as part of a “special investigation”, officers started to flex their muscles.

However, despite the large number of pubs, clubs and offices visited, not a single caution, let alone a fine has been issued so far.

The Department of Health said it was confident that there would be no need to be “heavy handed”, and that the ban would be mostly “self-enforcing”.

Fines for pub landlords can be as high as £2,500 and with individual smokers liable for a £50 fine if they light up in a public building.

Many campaigners, however, continued to flout the ban, arguing it was an infringement of civil liberties.

The Dog Inn in Ewyas Harold, near Hereford, which staged a smokeathon on Sunday, in protest, said it had not yet to “hear a whisper” from its local council, Herefordshire and was continuing to hand out ashtrays to those that wanted to run the risk of a fine.

Andy Tector, head of Environmental Health at the council said it would only be a matter of time before an officer paid the pub a visit. “We have no intention of letting anyone flout the law and will take appropriate action against anyone breaking the legislation,” he said.

The landlord, Tony Blows, who is part of the campaign group Freedom2Chose, said he had been inundated with support from around the world from Poland to Hawaii, with offers of money for a fighting fund.

Local councils, which received a budget of £29.5 million to help train up 1,200 employees, are in charge of policing the ban.

Most of the visits yesterday involved officers checking that pubs were displaying the correct signs – all 3.7 million workplaces across England, including Buckingham Palace have had to install non-smoking signs.

Birmingham council said that it had visited 92 premises and found 100 per cent compliance, while Newcastle’s four environmental officers inspected 120 sites without issuing a single caution.

Vicar’s unholy smoke stunt fails
A vicar who lit his pipe in a Kent police station as a protest against the smoking ban has failed in his attempt to get himself arrested.
The Reverend Anthony Carr, of East Peckham, walked into the station in Tonbridge, asked to report a crime and then started smoking.

He said he flouted the ban to protest against the erosion of civil liberties.

Kent Police said they did not arrest the Holy Trinity church vicar because it was an environmental health issue.

‘What a pity’

Mr Carr said: “I said to the officer ‘I want to report a crime’ and I took out my pipe and lit it.

“He said ‘Will you please put that out as this is a no smoking area’ and I said ‘I will not’.”

When officers told him he would not be “bundled into” the back of a van he said “what a pity”.

He added: “There are many things which are said to affect our health. You can’t really regulate the minutiae of people’s individual lives like that.”

Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council said the law protected public health and they would follow up any reports of the smoking ban being broken.

A spokesman for the Bishop of Rochester said: “We regard this as a personal matter – the church would not wish to comment on the incident.

“Officially, the church doesn’t condone breaking the law.”

Stanton Glantz Wants To Silence The English

The man who killed hundreds of rabbits, dogs, cats, pigs and mice in a failed attempt to show passive smoke to be harmful is dishing out advice to the English on how to squash the rebellion against the draconian smoking ban….

Having failed to show any link by butchering animals, Glantz turned to statistical manipulation to “show” what he wanted although why a mechanical engineer would presume that he knows better than specialists in medicine and statistics is not clear other than his utter hatred for smokers.

It is interesting then that he now sees fit to offer advice to the English from his anti smoking tower in California because of what he calls “Off to a bad start in England on smokefree”.

In his ‘warnings’ he discusses the press coverage of “pro-tobacco” forces openly defying the law and criticises the authorities for announcing that the new law would be “self enforcing” stating that there is a need for compliance with the law to be established prior to making that claim.

The rantings of this lunatic have been well documented over previous years so it is of little surprise that he sees fit to tell the English how to behave according to the anti smokers bible of tried and tested methods of social engineering. If the ban is to be self enforcing then we would like to be convinced of this beforehand rather than being lead to believe it was always the case after any rebellion has been quietly discredited and squashed. Additionally it may also be a part of that same bible that anti smoking organisation refer to any kind of discontent as “pro tobacco” but this is of course a flat out lie. The protests in England have all been pro choice and this was demonstrated aptly in Bolton on the 1st of July where the only pub that allowed smoking to continue was filled with hundreds of locals while those pubs around it that didn’t were empty.

This is of course why hate filled puritans such as Glantz push for all places to be smoke free; they call it “leveling the playing field” in reality of course it is the removal of smokers from society. When choice is available none smoking venues fail badly so the only option is to remove that choice.

Glantz finishes his communication by stating “I urge the advocates in the UK to crank up the pressure on the government to do this properly.”

Really?

I urge Glantz to concentrate on his social engineering experiment more locally and not to interfere with the wishes and choices of the British or to encourage “pressure” to further his visions upon the British government.
