CODACONS, MINISTERS HAVE BREACHED SMOKE BAN
(AGI) – Rome, Italy, May 30 – Not only, by lighting up a cigarette at a Cabinet office meeting, did ministers Fini and Calderoli breach the ban on smoke, but so too did the person in charge of maintenance at the office, who, on the basis of new regulations, should have enforced the law.
Thus reports a communiqu? issued by Codacons, Italy’s chief consumers’ association, and submitted to the Prime Minister.
According to Codacons, a notice published by the Healthcare Ministry on Dec 17, 2004, states that “the people in charge of the premises and their delegates are obliged to inform and fine offenders on charges of having breached the law.” The person in charge of the Cabinet office was, on that occasion, PM Silvio Berlusconi or any delegate appointed by himself.
Therefore, Codacons, in compliance with the Sirchia law, formally requires that the Tax Police sanction the Prime Minister along with Mrs Calderoli and Fini.”
