Group encourages smokers to buy cigarettes out of state
(WTNH, Feb. 26, 2005 7:25 PM) _ People who light up are asking all smokers to stop buying tobacco products in the state.
Members of Smoke Signals Coalition? are on a mission to help businesses hurt by the statewide smoking ban.
At this rally in Bristol they urged lawmakers to amend the law so business owners can decide if they want to allow smoking in their establishments.
In the meantime the coalition is calling for a boycott asking smokers to buy their tobacco out of state.
The coalition says the state stands to lose millions in revenue from the sale of tobacco.
Supporters of the ban say it cuts down on second hand smoke.
