Smoking Ban In Ottawa County
OTTAWA COUNTY (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Ottawa County Commissioners are being asked to pass a ban on smoking.
The Smoke-free Ottawa Coalition introduced a proposal Tuesday to ban smoking. The plan would affect private and public locations in the county.
The ban would apply to most public places, including taxis, libraries, buses, museums, and sports arenas.
Bars and restaurants would not be affected.
The idea behind the ban is to reportedly reduce the risk from second-hand smoke.
“I agree with the Department of Health’s conclusions that there are health consequences to involuntary exposure to tobacco smoke,” said Joyce Kortman, County Commissioner.
